Making Your Sexual Misconduct Policy a 10

**This training is for higher-education institutions and their employees only.**

Your Sexual Misconduct Policy is a critical component of your institution’s efforts to meet its obligations under Title IX and the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act (VAWA). It also serves as an important tool to help eliminate sexual harassment on campus. Higher education institutions are legally required to have comprehensive sexual misconduct policies. Is your Sexual Misconduct Policy up-to-date with recent OCR guidance? Does it incorporate lessons learned from your own recent experiences and other best practices? Given these legal obligations, the heightened focus on enforcement of Title IX, and the increasing complexity of sexual misconduct matters, it is important that your policy is comprehensive, clear, and effective. And, consistent with existing guidance, your Title IX coordinators should be involved in the drafting and revision of these policies to ensure that they comply with your Title IX and VAWA requirements.

Join us for a 90 minute training specifically designed for Title IX coordinators, deputy coordinators, and other key personnel responsible for maintaining legally compliant and up-to-date Sexual Misconduct Policies. Our training is conducted by Higher Education attorneys who regularly advise institutions on all aspects of the sexual misconduct process, from policy drafting, to investigating and adjudicating sexual misconduct cases, through the final resolution of sexual misconduct matters for institutions. This experience will help you understand not only what your policy should contain but the practical and procedural challenges created by deficient policy provisions. This firsthand, real world experience will help you navigate the complex issues that arise during the sexual misconduct process.

Attendees will receive a certificate verifying their completion of the training session.

This training will include:

• An overview of legal requirements under Title IX and VAWA;

• Engaging key constituencies in development, implementation, and dissemination of your Sexual Misconduct Policy; and

• Best practices relating to key concepts such as consent, incapacitation, sexual exploitation, coercion, amnesty, consensual relationships, the role of advisors, confidential resources, types of evidence, the role of Title IX Coordinators, the role of Investigators and Adjudicators, and grounds for appeal
